Fusing rock and metal influences with trance and house undertones, spaced out synthesized guitars and hauntingly melodic vocals, Philadelphia, PA’s Lex Dizik — whose current line-up features, Doug “Lex” Perry (vocals/guitar/guitar synth), Toby Vatillano (drums), Masiah (bass) and Brian Walsh (guitar) — may just be the most diabolical musical masterminds the world have ever known.
Formed in 2002, Lex Dizik has created shockwaves throughout Philadelphia and surrounding areas with their groundbreaking and intense live shows and gained the attention of some of the area's top music business professionals, as well as converting numerous metal listeners into dedicated Dizik fans. Since the unofficial release of the "Lex Dizik" EP in 2003, the band has hurled itself directly into the center of Philadelphia’s core original music circuit, receiving regular internet radio rotation and reaching the number one spot on several shows.
The April 2004 issue of Acrimony magazine declared the band, "The future of Gothic Rock", capable of, "some of the most futuristic music on the planet."
In June 2004, the band finished all the tracks for its debut effort, 02:4, with producer Richard Gavalis. The ten-track CD was released on Ultraskye records in October 2004. June also saw the band completing its first full-production music video for the 02:4 track "Darkside" under the direction of David Allen Ruth. Shot on location near a bridge over the Schuhkil River in Philadelphia, Ruth captured the mood of both the song and the band with a backdrop of geometric lighting and the fog creeping underneath the bridge. The video will see an official release early in 2005.
In September 2004, Lex Dizik, in conjunction with the Chronic Entertainment Group, assemled LexFest 2004 — a day-long independent concert event held at the Colorado State Fairgrounds amphitheatre in Pueblo — which consisted of 11 of the top original dark/goth/metal/rock bands from throughout the Colorado region. Lex Dizik was the headlining act, and the festival was a huge success.
Lex Dizik are currently in the studio working on a CD single for release in late January 2005.
